This policy explains what Pinegate Web does with information. The short version: this website does not track you, and we use what you send us only to answer you and do the work you ask for.

Who we are

Pinegate Web is a small web studio run by Ben Osman. Mailing address: 3700 John Barnes Lane, Fairfax, VA 22033. Email: ben@pinegateweb.com.

This website

  • No cookies, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising.
  • No scripts from other companies, no embedded maps or videos, and no contact form.
  • Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps standard technical logs of requests, such as IP addresses, to run and protect the site. We do not use them to track visitors.

Information you send us

When you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write or attach. We use it to reply to you and to do the work you ask for. We do not sell it, rent it or share it for anyone else's marketing.

We share information only with the services we need to do the work, such as our email provider, your hosting provider and a domain registrar when we register a domain in your name. We keep it as long as we need it for your project and our business records, then delete it.

How previews work

  • A preview uses only public details about your business, such as your name, services, phone number, address and hours from public listings.
  • It is not live and it is not listed anywhere. It is marked so search engines are asked not to show it, and only someone with the private link can see it.
  • We never put customer records or private information into a preview.
  • We take a preview down whenever you ask.

If we emailed your business

We sometimes email local businesses to offer a free preview. We use the business email address that the business itself publishes, on its own website or on a public business listing. We never buy email lists.

Before we write, we keep a short record of the business: its name, its public contact details, and our notes from looking at its public website, such as whether it works on a phone. We send at most two emails a business did not ask for: a first note and one follow up about a week later. If you reply, we answer your reply. If a business never replies, we delete its record within 12 months of our last email, except a do not email entry if you asked us to stop.

If you would rather not hear from us, reply with the word unsubscribe, or email ben@pinegateweb.com and say so. We will not email you again. To keep that promise, we keep your address on a do not email list.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you or your business, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email ben@pinegateweb.com and we will answer within a few business days. When we delete your information, we keep only your email address on our do not email list, so that we never write to you again, and any records the law requires us to keep, such as invoices.

Children

This website and our services are meant for businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
